Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Configuration / Change Management (C/CM) Specialist is responsible for all configuration and change management operations within the hybrid VPC and global network infrastructure for the customer using the ITIL framework.

 

Responsbilities:

 

  • You will maintain accurate and timely records of all configuration items, and coordinate configuration information with incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
  • Automated discovery methods shall be used to reconcile configuration updates with established baselines.
  • You will record, track, and monitor all CIs, settings, and component changes within the C/CM system; maintain logical and physical models of service area devices, site topology, and their relationships to ensure accurate, up-to-date configuration records.
  • This role requires you apply automated master data management techniques to reconcile manual updates and network discovery results with the configuration baseline, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all C/CM tools and activities.
  • You will develop, update, and maintain comprehensive baseline documentation for all systems and applications (e.g., designs, build procedures, test reports), alongside standardized SOPs and best practices for C/CM activities.
  • You will also manage the end-to-end change management process by preparing, submitting, and presenting change requests—including impact/risk assessments and implementation plans—to the Enterprise Change Board (ECB), and execute emergency change procedures for critical issues when expedited approval is required.
  • Additionally, you will conduct ongoing assessments and periodic audits of configuration items, baselines, and the computing environment to ensure strict compliance with established C/CM plans, department requirements, and operational standards.
  • You will also conduct post-implementation reviews to validate successful deployments and identify lessons learned; provide regular C/CM reporting, including metrics on change success rates, configuration compliance, and baseline drift.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The following are the education and experience required for this position:

  • 5+ years
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
  • Secret Security Clearance 

 

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • COMP TIA Sec + Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:   

  • Sitting for long periods
  • Standing for long periods
  • Ambulate throughout an office
  • Ambulate between several buildings
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
  • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds
