Primary Purpose
BIO is the premier biotechnology advocacy organization representing biotech companies, industry leaders, and state biotech associations in the United States and more than 35 countries around the globe. BIO members range from biotech start-ups to some of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies – all united by the same goal: to develop medical and scientific breakthroughs that prevent and fight disease, restore health, and improve patients’ lives. BIO also organizes the BIO International Convention and a series of annual conferences that drive partnerships, investment, and progress within the sector.Â
The primary purpose of the position is to provide support to the membership team, including membership-related outreach and maintenance of accurate member data across the organization. The individual will assist with various recruitment and retention activities, track outreach and maintain database records, and provide administrative support across the team.Â
primary Responsibilities
- Support the Director with annual member outreach and renewal correspondence by tracking outreach and developing status reports.
- Support the Director during dues planning process including researching, tracking, and maintaining company updates and financial information.Â
- Support the membership team with scheduling of internal and external meetings.
- Coordinate the processing of membership applications, including research, data entry, and email outreach.Â
- Monitor shared inboxes and provide helpful responses to external inquiries in a timely manner.Â
- Monitor industry news for updates on BIO members/prospects and report noteworthy items to the team.Â
- Maintain accurate member data in Salesforce/Fonteva, including company/contact updates and committee rosters.
- Maintain the internal membership team files and keep shared folders organized and accessible.Â
- Assist internal staff with membership reporting inquiries as requested.Â
- Assist with development of company background memos for internal staff use.
- Assist with conference-related activities, including list review and meeting requests.
- Assist with the department budget, including reconciling expenses, submitting invoices, and forecasting qualifications.
EDUCATION and experienceÂ
- Bachelor’s degreeÂ
- 1-2 years of professional experience; advanced degree/internships taken into considerationÂ
- Education and/or experience in finance/business/marketing preferred; life science/biotech a plus
Knowledge, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in developing proficiency in tools such as Excel, AI applications, and other technologies.
- Experience with association management system (AMS) and/or customer relationship management (CRM)software a plus.
- Confident, organized individual with ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive initiatives in a fast-paced setting.Â
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Â
- Proactive, self-starter that understands the importance of creating positive, working relationships with colleagues and external constituents.

- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching during events.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds if necessary
- Ability to lift, carry, and set down luggage when necessaryÂ
