To learn more, visit Food Bank for the Washington, DC, Region | Capital Area Food Bank.   Description The Nutrition Education Coordinator will develop and execute educational programming for the CAFB’s nutrition education team. A major area of focus for the Coordinator will be to grow, manage and lead our student engagement programming, including student field trips to our garden and training kitchen. This will include expanding outreach, planning, execution, and follow-up with schools and other student-related organizations.   The Nutrition Education Coordinator will also support other nutrition education programming. More specifically, the Coordinator may travel to different sites around the DMV region providing nutrition education and food demonstrations/samplings. They will work closely with the Nutrition Education team to develop and implement nutrition resources and several nutrition education initiatives in our teaching spaces. The Coordinator will also support the Food Growing Specialist, Nutrition Education Specialist and Director of Nutrition with other tasks related to our food assistance partner organizations, healthy pantry program and other client programming.   This is a 40-hour per week position.    Essential Functions Program Execution and Support:  Initiate and manage outreach and follow-up with student groups for nutrition education opportunities at CAFB   Work with the Nutrition Education team to help direct and implement all student-based nutrition and garden education for students (K-12 and college level)  Work with the Nutrition Education team to customize nutrition and garden education experiences by age group using best practices  Contribute to program evaluation, tracking, reporting, and research on best practices for nutrition- and garden-based education in line with CAFB mission  Represent CAFB at food demos and other events as needed and within capacity (10-15 per FY)  Assist Nutrition Education Specialist to manage team event schedule for staff/interns  Manage educational spaces at CAFB including CAFB’s Teaching Kitchen, nutrition education closet and other nutrition education classroom spaces   Help manage inventory of nutrition education resources as they relate to student-based programming  Assist with design and distribution of nutrition education and garden materials  Manage nutrition education contributions to program/partner newsletters  Coordinate nutrition education interns and staff for program support  Survey administration and data entry as needed  Other  Assist other departments with nutrition education goals across the organization   Timely and consistent expense, budget, and event tracking    Other job-related duties as assigned   QualificationsMinimum Requirements 4-year bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health or similar      1-2 years experience developing and executing evidenced-based educational programming for school-aged children and underserved community members with diverse backgrounds   Displays working knowledge of healthy food preparation, food safety, recipe development, cooking improvisation, and reputable sourcing of nutrition information   Comfort with working in garden spaces and willingness to learn basic garden knowledge (some garden experience preferred)  Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Comfortable speaking in front of groups, including school-aged children  Experience working with culturally diverse populations and age groups, including school-aged children  Ability to work independently while also engaging in collaborative, team-based work  Excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to prioritize and set boundaries  Ability to drive to different sites throughout the DC, Maryland, Virginia regions; access to a car preferred  Detail-orientated with ability to perform basic data analysis  Mastery of Microsoft Office programs   Project management experience, preferred  Canva and WordPress experience, preferred  Bilingual (Spanish), preferred    Physical Requirements Ability to lift/carry 30 pounds. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.     Required to speak and listen effectively, both in person and over the phone.      Reporting Reports to Director, Nutrition   Application Process:  Interested applicants must submit a cover letter and resume.
