- Partner with product, UX, engineering, and program owners to translate questions into clear metrics, charts, and data storiesÂ
- Build embedded visualizations for the website, client side or server rendered, using libraries such as D3.js, Vega Lite, Plotly, or Chart.js, and align styling with USWDSÂ
- Create accessible charts and tables that meet WCAG 2.2 AA, include text alternatives and captions, ensure color contrast, and support keyboard navigation and screen readersÂ
- Ingest and model data from multiple sources, CSV and Excel, REST and GraphQL APIs, relational databases, data lakes, and vendor platformsÂ
- Develop repeatable data prep and validation, SQL and Python, including joins, transformations, and quality checksÂ
- Implement data reliability checks, row level validation, schema tests, anomaly detection, and monitoring with alertingÂ
- Collaborate with developers to expose data through secure APIs or views, design caching and refresh strategies, and optimize payload size and rendering performanceÂ
- Document datasets, metrics, and visualizations, create data dictionaries, lineage notes, and change logsÂ
- Support analytics for government sites, DAP and GA4 where permitted, and convert insights into public friendly summariesÂ
- Contribute to CI CD and DevSecOps practices for analytics code and visualization assetsÂ
- Prepare inputs for compliance artifacts as needed, accessibility testing results, privacy review notes, and change control recordsÂ
What We Need From You (Required):Â Â
- 4 or more years in data analysis, data visualization, or analytics engineering, including at least 2 years building web embedded chartsÂ
- Strong SQL skills, window functions, CTEs, and performance tuningÂ
- Proficiency with Python for data work, Pandas and Jupyter, or R with tidyverseÂ
- Hands on experience with one or more visualization libraries used on the web, D3.js, Vega or Vega Lite, Plotly, Chart.jsÂ
- Experience integrating with diverse data sources, relational databases such as Postgres or SQL Server, flat files, APIs, and cloud object storageÂ
- Demonstrated accessibility practice for data visuals, Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 AA, automated and manual testingÂ
- Ability to explain methods and tradeoffs to technical and non technical audiences, and to write clear documentationÂ
- Version control with Git, pull requests, and code reviewÂ
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently; the ability to drive and own tasks are preferred.Â

- Hybrid - Based in Washington, DC. Occasional travel may be required.Â
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, IT Management, or related fieldÂ
