Overview:

The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staff to support surveillance, prevention, and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program and for select unfunded states. The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for a Data Analyst. The Data Analyst will plan, develop, and conduct analysis of overdose surveillance data and data related to overdose prevention efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

路 Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Public Health (Epidemiology), or related field.

路 Minimum of two (2) years of full-time, professional work experience with data cleaning, data management and statistical analysis.

路 Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of data. This includes writing queries, applying mathematical analysis methods, implementing machine learning processes and creating statistical analysis models.

路 Ability to conduct descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analysis using primary or secondary data.

路 Provide data-driven insights and solutions to help Overdose Prevention Programs. Identify new overdose prevention opportunities and improve overdose prevention services.

路 Proficiency in navigating computer systems; ability to learn new data systems quickly and to comply with data integrity and security to safeguard all personally identifiable information.

路 Proficiency in common statistical software such as R, Python and/or SAS is required.

路 Experience with geospatial data and analytics. Familiarity with geospatial data tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS and/or GeoDa.

路 Ability to design, create prototypes, develop, deploy, and support Power BI or Tableau dashboards and reports.

路 Proficiency in Teams, Zoom, and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

路 Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to be efficient and consistently deliver high-quality work under time constraints.

路 Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within teams.

路 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

路 Highly motivated and organized with the ability to work well in teams and independently on multiple simultaneous projects.

路 Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams.

路 Attention to detail and accuracy.

路 Ability to work with sensitive materials and populations with empathy and professionalism

Responbilities:

1. Full life cycle activities of data analytics to include data cleaning, developing analysis and reporting capabilities, and linking databases and data sets.

2. Continuously monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify improvements in models; perform related work as required.

3. Perform data management activities, data cleaning and statistical analysis using SAS, R, Python, SQL or other statistical programming language on Overdose Surveillance and Prevention Program data.

4. Produce and analyze reports for the purposes of monitoring and evaluating overdose surveillance and prevention activities, providing timely data analysis support to the data and outreach teams, and to inform the public health funded organizations.

5. Collaborate with agency and external groups providing data analysis support and insight to statewide efforts.

6. Effectively communicate technical and general information regarding Overdose Surveillance and Prevention Program data to a variety of audiences including agency leadership, policy makers and public health professionals.

7. Collate data and compile into meaningful graphs and data visualizations

8. Coordinate results and feedback to hospitals regarding all results from the testing of items discovered off patients during admission to a hospital if requested by the hospital

9. Aid in the compilation, analysis, and dissemination of collected data pertaining to opioid testing and surveillance

10. Assist the Department of Health and partners in providing detailed and timely reports as to current trends on drug supply and overdose trends in real time

11. Identify patterns, emerging trends, and options for increasing efficiency of additional testing

12. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing and proposed interventions and advise on data collection and analysis for evaluation purposes.

13. Work with stakeholders to ensure the efficient and timely reporting of quality data for analysis and dissemination.
