Data & Analytics leverages business intelligence gained through advanced data analytics in order to maximize AARP's marketing and communications results. This includes using data science, data engineering, predictive modeling, and market analytics to guide data driven decision making.

Are you interested in growing your data science skills by working innovatively on real-world projects with industry-leading technology? AARP’s Data & Analytics Group is seeking a self-starter who can innovate and evolve the way it integrates various marketing and digital analytics data sources and build comprehensive reporting solutions. The ideal candidate wants to hit the ground running by managing and executing efforts to prepare data for advanced analytics, creating dashboards to report on business intelligence KPIs, and using modern AI tools to support analytical efforts. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of May/June 2026 and will go through the end of the summer, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.
Responsibilities
- Manage ingestion processes or various marketing and digital analytics data sources with multiple data connection solutions (ETL, API, batch file, etc.)
- Automate ETL processes with industry-leading technologies, including Funnel.io, Databricks, AWS (Amazon Web Services) Redshift/S3, and data source APIsÂ
- Create dashboards and reporting tools to support business intelligence needs using Tableau
- Use AI tools to enhance reporting capabilities
- Collaborate with data science, advanced analytics, data engineering, and IT teams
- Document all data sources, vendors, technologies, configurations, and processes
- Recommend solutions to continue to improve and evolve solutions and best practices
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship and pursuing a degree in data engineering, data science, computer science, science in analytics, or relevant studies in software and information systems
- Proficiency programming in Python and SQL (required)
- Familiarity with cloud computing and Spark-based languages such as PySpark or Scala
- Experience working with ETL processes and tools for moving, cleaning, and transforming data
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Interest in industry-leading systems like Databricks, AWS, and big data and AI technologies
- Ability to work independently researching, documenting, and implementing solutions, and discerning work priorities while managing multiple projects
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, understand requirements, and present findings

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
