Our mission-driven team advances innovative, equity-centered solutions that empower adult immigrants and English language learners while strengthening our community and economy. Through our award-winning three-pronged model—foundational coursework, career certification, and comprehensive supports—and guided by our core values: Integrity, Respect, Perseverance, Compassion, Inclusivity, and Collaboration we advance our strategic priorities to empower our people and culture and build for the future.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Director of GED Programs leads both the English and Spanish GED programs across CRIPCS campuses, ensuring strong student outcomes, high-quality instruction, and a coherent program experience for all adult immigrant learners. Reporting to the Chief Schools Officer, this role is primarily an instructional leadership and data-informed performance role—responsible for evaluating and developing GED faculty in both programs, analyzing student and program performance data, and designing professional development that builds instructional capacity across the full GED portfolio.

The Director owns and is accountable for the performance of both GED programs, ensuring that students in the English and Spanish tracks receive a comparable, high-quality experience. This role sets the direction for faculty and program performance across both programs, actively recruits and retains students, and fosters a learning environment grounded in dignity and high expectations.

CORE WORKSTREAMS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Feedback and Faculty Evaluation

● Conduct regular, structured classroom observations and provide teachers and tutors with timely, actionable instructional feedback tied to clear performance expectations.

● Conduct formal performance evaluations for all GED faculty and tutors; document findings and establish clear improvement plans where needed.

● Ensure instructional alignment across English and Spanish GED sections, holding both programs to the same standards and ensuring all students receive a comparable, high-quality learning experience.

● Establish and communicate clear instructional standards and non-negotiables for GED faculty across campuses.

● Build a culture of continuous instructional improvement through regular one-on-one coaching conversations, team debriefs, and reflective practice cycles.

● Hold faculty accountable to program expectations while supporting their growth and instructional effectiveness.

Data Analysis and Student and Program Performance Tracking

● Regularly analyze student performance data—including assessment results, pass rates, attendance, and progression—to identify trends and monitor progress toward program outcomes across both the English and Spanish GED programs.

● Use data to make informed, timely programmatic shifts—adjusting instructional strategies, staffing, scheduling, or student supports as needed to improve outcomes.

● Track faculty performance metrics alongside student outcome data to identify patterns connecting instructional practice to student success.

● Prepare and present regular data reports to the CSO and CAO, translating findings into actionable recommendations for program improvement and alignment across campuses.

Professional Development of GED Faculty

● Identify faculty-specific professional development needs using a combination of observation data, performance evaluations, and student outcome trends.

● Design and deliver targeted, specialized professional development for GED teachers and tutors with a focus on increasing instructional capacity and improving student pass rates.

● Coordinate with the CRIPCS Professional Development team to align GED-specific learning with school-wide faculty development priorities.

● Develop individualized professional growth plans for GED faculty grounded in observation findings and self-assessment, and track progress over time.

● Evaluate the impact of professional development initiatives on instructional quality and student outcomes, refining approaches based on results.

Program Administration and Student Recruitment and Retention

● Lead recruitment efforts to attract new students to the GED program, collaborating with the Intake department and community partners to build enrollment pipelines.

● Implement retention strategies to reduce stop-out rates, using attendance and engagement data to identify at-risk students and connect them to appropriate supports.

● Manage cross-campus program operations including scheduling, class coverage, curriculum materials, and coordination with the Assessment Coordinator on testing functions.

● Support hiring recommendations, staff onboarding, and leave management in coordination with the CRIPCS Management Team.

● Facilitate GED team meetings, support program events, and maintain communication with center staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Cross-Campus Program Alignment

● Own and oversee both the English and Spanish GED programs across campuses, ensuring consistent program quality, equivalent access to resources, and alignment to the same instructional standards.

● Facilitate regular cross-program collaboration between English and Spanish GED faculty to share data, instructional practices, and professional development resources, ensuring coherence across both programs.

● Identify and address gaps in program quality, student outcomes, or faculty performance across campuses, escalating concerns to the Chief Schools Officer with data-supported recommendations.

● Ensure that faculty and program performance across both the English and Spanish GED programs meets or exceeds established expectations, and that accountability structures are applied consistently.

● Represent the GED program in cross-functional planning conversations and contribute to school-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
