Position Summary:

The Investment Director role will be structured as a generalist position that will source, research, and underwrite investment opportunities across a broad range of asset classes, including hedge funds, private equity, and public-private credit investments. This role will be an integral part of the Institution's investment group, which has responsibility for implementing the investment policy established by the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees.

 

The Investment Director performs a range of related duties as necessary to support the overall activities of the investment group, in collaboration with the Chief Investment Officer, including, but not limited to, sourcing fund managers across asset classes, conducting front-office due diligence, conducting operational due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of existing relationships. They are also responsible for staying abreast of market conditions and developments that may affect the Institution's investment holdings.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Conceptualizes, executes, and evaluates investment strategies across hedge fund, long-only, fixed income, private equity, public/private credit, and public market investments. Continually explore, identify, evaluate, and recommend new investment opportunities and managers. Develop investment recommendation memos for review and refinement by the Chief Investment Officer and presentation to the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing investments and investment managers through continuous review of portfolio analytics, manager meetings, and manager communications.

  • Participate in the institutional investment community, representing the Endowment, maintaining relationships, sharing information, and assessing trends.

  • Support the Chief Investment Officer in all aspects of Investment Committee relations, asset allocation, and liquidity management.

  • Execute due diligence reviews on prospective investment managers, evaluate operational support structure, internal controls, and assist the Investment Analyst in operational due diligence.

  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with the Institution's investment policy, the investment group's policies and procedures, and all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Five to ten years of substantive investment experience including evaluating, monitoring and selecting private equity, credit, real estate, and alternative stategies. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and CFA

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to conduct and interpret in-depth analysis.
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Superior organizational quantitative skills
  • Strong team orientation and exceptional communication skills to convey ideas and results to colleagues
