Overview 
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking an internship candidate to support Science and Regulatory Advocacy initiatives, activities, and priorities at our Washington, DC Headquarters office. The intern will provide broad assistance to members of the Science and Regulatory Advocacy Department and collaborate with multiple teams.
Department Description:
PhRMA’s Science and Regulatory Advocacy team works to advance science-based public policies and regulatory approaches that support biopharmaceutical innovation and the development of safe and effective medicines for patients. The team engages on scientific and regulatory policy issues affecting the research, development, review, and approval of innovative medicines and works collaboratively with PhRMA member companies, policymakers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.Â
This is a paid position. The internship will run from [insert date], and the intern will work up to 37.5 hours per week for a 3-month term.
Responsibilities
The Intern’s responsibilities may include:  
- Researching and trackingscientific, regulatory, and public policy developments
- Synthesize scientific, regulatory and policy information into clear and concise materials for internal and external audiences
- Providing support for meetings, including gathering and assembling information 
- Researching legislation, policy issues, and proposals 
- Participating in writing and editing talking points, policy papers, backgrounders, or other publications
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements:   
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in political science, government affairs, public policy, public health, legislative affairs, economics, or communications with an interest in health/life sciences policy and politics
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
- Strong desireto build relationships/collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability tostrategically and creatively process information
- Curiosity to stay abreast of current industry trends
- Ability to manage and complete projects end-to-endin a timely manner
Potential Salary
- $25 - $35 per hour based on the level of degree program.
