Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Quality Intern to join our Quality department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week, internship opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work model that includes both virtual and in-person work as MAPMG guidelines permit. Reporting to a Quality Department Supervisor, the Graduate Quality Intern will support initiatives focused on improving healthcare delivery, operational efficiency, and clinical program performance. This role provides exposure to consulting, analytics, project management, and strategic planning activities within a large integrated healthcare system. You will collaborate with physician executives and operational leaders across the region to support quality improvement projects and administrative initiatives that enhance healthcare outcomes and organizational performance.

You can expect to:

  • Develop workflow documentation and process improvement recommendations that support quality and operational initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and visual materials that communicate project findings and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with physician executives, operational leaders, and quality team members to support regional quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide analytical support by reviewing and validating data used to monitor performance and improvement efforts.
  • Lead or assist with projects that support continuous improvement initiatives across the MAPMG delivery system.
  • Oversee or support the use of MAPMG proprietary tools to evaluate program performance and track project outcomes.
  • Administer project coordination and communication support for quality initiatives and strategic improvement efforts.

What is required:

  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s Degree program in Business Administration, Management, Analytics, Biology, or a related field; Recent college graduates are ineligible for the internship program.
  • Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours a week, for a minimum of 12 weeks.
  • Previous experience in data analysis, project management, consulting, or healthcare operations is a plus.
  • Interest or coursework related to healthcare quality improvement, analytics, healthcare operations, or business strategy.
  • Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and data analysis or reporting tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, develop clear and engaging reports, and contribute to collaborative project environments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to commute to the Washington, D.C. regional office as needed.
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
