Senior Household Manager / Lead Nanny (Split Shift) – Washington, DC
Position Overview
A professional dual-career family in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Household Manager / Lead Nanny to support their busy household and school-age children. This is a long-term, full-time role for an experienced, organized, and proactive caregiver who can confidently manage household logistics, coordinate children’s schedules, and work collaboratively with another nanny already supporting the family.
This position requires someone who is capable, educated, highly reliable, and comfortable operating as the lead caregiver in a structured household with multiple moving parts.
Children are:
- 11-year-old girl (5th grade)
- 8-year-old boy (2nd grade)
2-year-old (attends daycare full-time)
Schedule
This is a split-shift role with guaranteed full-time hours.
Typical Schedule:
Morning: 7:00 AM – School drop-off (morning routine support)
Midday: Off
Afternoon/Evening: After-school pickups, activities, and early evening routines
Additional Details:
Full-day coverage will be required on some school holidays
Occasional schedule flexibility is expected
The role is Monday–Friday
Primary Responsibilities
Morning Responsibilities
Assist with morning routines for school-age children
Prepare children for school and ensure smooth departures
School drop-offs (local driving)
Afternoon & Evening Responsibilities
School pickups
Transport children to and from after-school activities
Coordinate schedules and logistics
Supervise homework and transitions
Support afternoon/evening routines until parents return
Household Management Duties
Act as the lead nanny in partnership with a second nanny
Coordinate children’s schedules, activities, and commitments
Communicate proactively with parents and the other nanny
Assist with household organization related to the children
Coordinate vendors and service providers as needed
Help plan and prepare healthy meals for the children
Track school and extracurricular needs (events, competitions, deadlines)
Collaboration & Leadership
Work in tandem with another nanny supporting the younger child
Serve as the senior/lead nanny, providing structure and continuity
Communicate clearly and professionally within a shared-care environment

Qualifications
3–5+ years of professional nanny or household management experience
Prior experience in school-age households
Comfortable in a lead or senior nanny role
Highly organized, proactive, and dependable
Strong communication and time-management skills
Confident driver with a clean driving record
Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Able to manage a split-shift schedule long-term
Authorized to work in the U.S.
