Description
The Information Technology Associate (Junior) provides foundational technical support for Navy information systems, networks, and end-user environments. This role assists in maintaining system functionality, supporting users, and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity standards. The position operates within a structured team environment and contributes to daily IT operations supporting mission-critical Navy systems.
Key Responsibilities
System Support & Maintenance
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripheral devicesÂ
- Support routine system updates, patches, and maintenance activitiesÂ
- Monitor system performance and report irregularities or issuesÂ
Technical Troubleshooting & User Support
- Diagnose and resolve basic hardware, software, and connectivity issuesÂ
- Provide technical assistance to users, including account support and system access troubleshootingÂ
- Support onboarding/offboarding activities, including account provisioning and device setupÂ
Network & Infrastructure Support
- Assist with basic network configuration and connectivity supportÂ
- Support maintenance of network devices and assist in troubleshooting connectivity issuesÂ
- Monitor system and network health under guidance from senior staffÂ
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, issues, and resolutionsÂ
- Ensure all activities comply with DoD and Navy cybersecurity policiesÂ
- Assist with maintaining audit-ready documentation and recordsÂ
Security & Data Protection
- Follow established procedures to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems and dataÂ
- Support implementation of security controls and best practicesÂ
- Participate in required cybersecurity awareness and compliance trainingÂ
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field OR 3+ years of relevant experienceÂ
- Basic knowledge of:Â
- Computer systems and operating systemsÂ
- Networking fundamentalsÂ
- Troubleshooting techniquesÂ
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8570 certification (e.g., Security+)
