ROLE
We need an experienced Legal Assistant III at GSA OGC. The Office of General Counsel provides sound and timely legal advice and representation across GSA offices nationwide, and this contract supports OGC's Regional Divisions with legal assistant and administrative services. In this role, you will provide front office support, scheduling, correspondence, filing, document preparation, legal administrative support, legal review tracking, data entry, records support, and optional FOIA support, delivered through a hybrid framework of onsite support at OGC's Washington, DC location with authorized telework. RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Office and Scheduling Support
- Greets visitors and controls access in accordance with Government security procedures
- Answers phones, directs inquiries, and maintains a message log using the Government-provided routing matrix
- Maintains attorneys' calendars, schedules meetings and conference calls, and tracks daily suspense items and deadlines
- Arranges travel and lodging, secures pre-travel approvals, and processes travel vouchers in ConcurGov
- Serves as timekeeper and enters time and leave data in HR Links
- Receives, time-stamps, reviews, and distributes incoming mail and faxes
- Identifies and routes priority or misdirected mail
- Prepares and dispatches outgoing mail and coordinates courier service as needed
- Prepares routine correspondence and non-technical legal documents with limited supervision
- Produces and formats complex reports, legal documents, and correspondence from drafts or electronic files using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Adobe
- Reviews briefs, memoranda, exhibits, and pleadings for proper format, including tables of authorities
- Flags formatting inconsistencies or missing references for the document author's review
- Establishes, maintains, and cross-references physical and electronic case files
- Adds, revises, and re-files materials, and tracks case disposition
- Identifies files for purging and safeguards files and sensitive material from loss or unauthorized disclosure
- Assembles and formats documents for filing, mailing, submission, or service in accordance with court, board, commission, or agency rules
- Supports filing with the U.S. District Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, boards of contract appeals, and GAO
- Files OGC, Department of Justice, and U.S. Attorney pleadings and maintains documentation of filing and service
- Circulates sensitive correspondence, legislative items, and executive orders for legal review and concurrence
- Tracks items through the review process and communicates with OGC divisions to confirm concurrence
- Maintains tracking records and generates status reports as requested
- Searches, assembles, and summarizes information using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and GSA and OGC databases
- Catalogs, shelves, and inventories legal publications, and notifies OGC when subscriptions or materials need updating
- Prepares recurring statistical and workload reports as directed
- Enters and updates budget, timesheet, leave, travel, training, and litigation case tracking information
- Performs data entry and general clerical support within the scope of the PWS
- Performs FOIA program support and other administrative duties as assigned
BACKGROUND/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of federal litigation experience supporting legal administrative support, document management, case file organization, document production, litigation support, court or administrative filing support, and handling sensitive, confidential, privileged, or non-public legal information
- Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer, Google Suite, Foxit Phantom/Adobe Acrobat DC, PowerPoint, and Cisco Jabber
- Must communicate effectively, orally and in writing; be detail-oriented and accurate; and can handle multiple tasks and prioritize items.
- A.A. in Paralegal Studies, Paralegal Certification, or equivalent – Preferred

- Base Hourly Wage: $38.77 per hour
- Health & Welfare (Benefits rate): $5.09 per hour
- Total Hourly Compensation: $43.86 per hour

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. Relocation will not be offered. This position requires access to Department of Justice facilities and systems. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
