Maintenance Service Technician I

Company: Hitachi Particle Engineering and Service, Inc.

Division: Particle Therapy Division (PTD)

Location: Washington DC

Status: 6 months Temp to Hire, Full Time

Shifts: 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, weekday & weekend as needed

Summary

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services Inc. (HPES) is looking for a Service Technician. HPES provides service and maintenance of Proton Beam Therapy System (PBT) to customer/hospital and associated supports as a staff. PBT is highly advanced system for cancer treatment. The Service Technician will be responsible for monitoring system status during treatment and also preventive/corrective maintenance. He/she will work as part of the team to ensure compliance of technical and mechanical programs such as; worker safety, spare parts program, tool management, equipment tagging, facility procedure compliance, administrative procedure compliance, office equipment and systems by following all necessary procedures, protocols and guidelines. A Service Technician needs to work at a hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Need to work based on assigned morning/evening schedules. 

  • Responsible for keep the system running successfully to ensure medical treatment.

  • Work urgently to recover from system failure during medical treatment.

  • Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including customer/hospital policy, FDA, HIPPA, OSHA, internal company/site policies.

  • Report/update record of Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), System Outage, Daily Shift Change Report, Daily Site Service Report. and TQA Work in a timely manner, including all relevant details.

  • Share current status information with team.

  • Support for shipping and receiving parts and storage in warehouse, handling with care.

  • Appropriate dress code for working at hospital is required.

Requirements/Preferences

  • College or bachelor’s degree in Scientific major (BS or AS, e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer) or more than three years of experience in related field is preferred.

  • Previous experience working as an equipment technician for a PBT facility is preferred.

  • Technical Skills to perform troubleshooting is preferred. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Competency

  • Be punctual.

  • Read and correctly interpret various engineering documents. (schematics, wiring, diagrams, piping diagrams, etc.)

  • Use standard electronic test and measurement instruments. (DVM, oscilloscope, micrometers, etc.)

  • work safe in regions of high voltage and radiation.

  • Lift equipment up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Maintain focus and work with precision over extended periods.

Education:

  • High school diploma or associate's degree (A.S.) or more required.
