Procon is seeking an experienced MEP Inspector to support the field inspection of complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive construction inspection experience, strong knowledge of industry practices and applicable codes, and the ability to effectively coordinate with project teams while maintaining accurate inspection records.

Qualifications and Skills
  • 15 years of experience in construction inspection, including significant experience with complex MEP construction and renovation projects.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a similar inspection role.
  • Demonstrated fire alarm system experience is required, including experience with the installation, inspection, replacement, testing, and/or commissioning of fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with fire alarm control panels, notification/alarm devices, detectors, annunciators, and associated system components is required.
  • Experience supporting phased fire alarm demolition, replacement, and system cutover activities is highly preferred.
  • Associate degree in a construction-related field, completion of a trade school program, or an equivalent certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing construction methods, codes, standards, and industry practices.
  • Strong understanding of applicable fire alarm and life-safety requirements, codes, and construction practices.
  • Experience reviewing construction work for compliance with contract documents, codes, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Experience using construction management software; E-Builder experience is preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with contractors, project teams, and other construction stakeholders.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management (CQM) Certification and OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform specialized field inspections for designated Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) disciplines, as well as other related construction disciplines.
  • Provide field inspection and oversight for the phased demolition and replacement of the building's existing fire alarm system.
  • Inspect the removal and replacement of existing fire alarm control panels, notification and alarm devices, detectors, annunciators, and associated fire alarm system components.
  • Monitor installation of the new fire alarm system and support inspection activities through testing, commissioning, and final cutover from the existing system to the new system.
  • Verify fire alarm installation activities are completed in accordance with contract documents, approved plans and specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements.
  • Inspect complex MEP construction and renovation work for compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and perform field inspections throughout various phases of construction.
  • Inspect work at project sites for contract and code compliance.
  • Evaluate the quality and proficiency of construction work and identify deficiencies, defects, and omissions.
  • Recommend the approval or rejection of materials and workmanship, as appropriate.
  • Monitor labor and project safety requirements during field activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete written inspection reports and records of defects, deficiencies, omissions, and other relevant construction activities.
  • Utilize construction management software, including E-Builder, to document and track inspection activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, engineers, and other project stakeholders to communicate inspection findings and facilitate timely resolution of identified issues.
