Position Overview
We are seeking a Mid‑Level Financial Management Analyst/Consultant to support the Department of the Navy and NAVWAR in Washington, D.C. This is a full‑time, onsite position located at the Washington Navy Yard.Â
In this role, you will work alongside a team of consultants to deliver high‑quality accounting and financial management support to government clients. The position requires a balance of independent execution and daily collaboration with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.Â
Key Focus Areas
- Supporting complex Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) and programmatic activitiesÂ
- Developing and executing DoW budgets and annual financial spend plansÂ
- Performing account analysis and reconciliation, variance analysis, financial tracking, reporting, budgeting, and forecastingÂ
- Advising clients on financial, operational, and programmatic mattersÂ
Responsibilities
- Enter, maintain, and analyze financial data in government systems (e.g., Navy ERP, Standard Procurement System, and successor systems)Â
- Assist with budget formulation, cost tracking, and variance analysisÂ
- Measure organizational performance and evaluate program or policy impacts on budget executionÂ
- Research financial and economic trends affecting funding and expendituresÂ
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures governing budget formulation and maintenanceÂ
- Manage multiple funding types and coordinate with internal and external stakeholdersÂ
- Prepare and present financial budgets, reports, analyses, and executive‑level summariesÂ
- Develop recommendations and courses of action (COAs) to address financial challengesÂ
- Interpret and apply financial management policies, regulations, and strategic objectivesÂ

- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with minimal supervisionÂ
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, tools, and processesÂ
- High attention to detail and accuracyÂ
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (daily use)Â
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Access, Outlook)Â
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)Â
- Experience with Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (N‑ERP) preferredÂ
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutionÂ
- 3–7 years of Navy/DoW financial management or relevant federal consulting experienceÂ
- Strongly preferred: Department of the Navy experience, including accounting, finance, consulting, NAVWAR financial systems, and PPBE processesÂ
- Ability to obtain a SECRET government security clearance (TS/SCI may be required for select projects)Â
