Summary

Responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the global enterprise network. Designs, implements, and maintains LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless, and firewall platforms.

Monitors network health, analyzes performance metrics, and proactively tunes the environment to maintain optimal throughput and reliability. Troubleshoots complex network issues, escalates when appropriate, and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to support business operations.

Contributes to network architecture planning, capacity forecasting, and lifecycle management.  The Network Engineer will also participate and often lead infrastructure projects, troubleshooting, technology upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with IT leadership and business units to understand upcoming initiatives and translate them into network capacity, design, and security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain standardized methods, tools, and documentation for testing, validating, and deploying new LAN/WAN hardware and configurations.
  • Help with network infrastructure projects that enhance performance, resiliency, or functionality across the enterprise.
  • Install, configure, and support routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and related network tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve network performance issues, including latency, congestion, routing anomalies, and hardware failures.
  • Provide operational support for the daily function of the IT environment, including incident response and root‑cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Recommend, schedule, and implement firmware updates, patches, hardware refreshes, and configuration improvements.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for network‑related issues and provide guidance to IT staff and end users.
  • Participate in infrastructure modernization, ERP, cybersecurity, and site implementation projects.
  • Evaluate new network technologies and recommend improvements.
  • Develop implementation plans, test plans, and rollback procedures.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines and technical standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve network reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Travel up to 20% as required for on‑site installations, troubleshooting, or project work.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Management System requirements.
  • Ensure all deployed network equipment is configured, validated, and documented according to industry best practices and vendor recommendations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, VMware, or similar enterprise technologies.
  • Experience with SD-WAN and SASE.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or other multi-site environments.
  • Experience supporting ERP systems and highly available business-critical applications.

 

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher (CCNP preferred).
  • Minimum six years of hands‑on network troubleshooting experience; manufacturing or multi‑site enterprise environment preferred.
  • Minimum four years of experience with Cisco networking platforms and architectures.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols such as RIP, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, multicast (MCGP), and VoIP‑related protocols (H.323, SIP).
  • Experience supporting large, distributed, and highly available network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of STP, QoS, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and wireless networking.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with global teams.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in after‑hours support for critical incidents or maintenance windows.
  • Experience with enterprise firewalls and network security technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network environments.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • May require physical installation of network hardware in data centers, wiring closets, and industrial spaces.
