Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer
Location: Onsite – U.S. Department of State (Washington, DC)
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance (Top Secret eligibility required)
Work Schedule: Hybrid – 4x days onsite. 1 remote
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer to support the U.S. Department of State in modernizing and maintaining secure, scalable cloud environments. The OCI Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud solutions while ensuring compliance with federal security requirements. This is a fully onsite role requiring an active Secret clearance with Top Secret eligibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, including compute, networking, storage, and database solutions
- Configure and maintain Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs), subnets, gateways, and load balancers to support mission-critical applications
- Implement cloud security best practices in alignment with federal compliance frameworks (NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP)
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools
- Monitor system performance, optimize cost, and ensure high availability within OCI environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex OCI-related issues, providing escalation support when needed
- Collaborate with security, development, and operations teams on cloud migrations and enterprise modernization initiatives
- Maintain detailed documentation of architectures, configurations, and operational processes
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance with Top Secret eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, with at least 2 years working specifically in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Strong knowledge of OCI compute, storage, IAM, networking, and database services
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
- Experience with cloud security, compliance, and monitoring solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support mission-critical federal systems
- Familiarity with Oracle container Engine for Kubernetes(OKE) and Docker.
Preferred Skills
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect certification(s)
- Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud environments integrating OCI and on-premises systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation frameworks
- Hands-on experience supporting the Department of State or other federal civilian agencies
- Strong knowledge of federal IT security standards and accreditation processes
