Reading Assist is a non-profit organization that offers year-round high-impact tutoring services to at-risk children with the most significant reading challenges. Reading Assist’s strategic ambition is to become the leading regional expert and trusted provider of reading instruction for young, struggling readers. We intend to grow to serve 10,000 students with 90% reaching benchmark in foundational reading skills within one year. The Program Manager ensures high quality execution of Reading Assist programming by managing and coaching tutors as well as maintaining partnership with schools. In addition to managing tutors, the Program Manager will provide high-level coaching and guidance to educators. Program Managers will be assigned a cohort of schools and tutors that they oversee and meet with regularly. Program Managers ensure that our curriculum is delivered with fidelity and that school partners see the results from their students. Manager: Program Director Responsibilities: Manage and/or provide professional coaching to up 30 tutors and/or educators at 8-10 partner school locations across Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Washington D.C. with a focus on supporting educators and tutors Conduct tutor onboarding (technology setup, compliance paperwork, background checks, etc.) Lead and support the execution of both tutor and educator training (manage tutor attendance, prep materials, facilitate trainings, etc.) Observe, coach, and provide feedback to tutors delivering the program during weekly meetings Conduct tutor performance reviews Assess students as needed Build tutor culture and ensure engagement throughout program Manage compliance and administration for program Partner with schools to plan, implement, and negotiate all aspects of program implementation (create schedule, find space, manage escalations) Schedule data review meetings with school staff as needed Participate in tutor interviews and recruitment events as needed Provide direct instructional coaching and support to educators and tutors to strengthen literacy teaching practices Model evidence-based literacy instruction in classroom and tutoring settings Facilitate professional development sessions and workshops for tutors and educators. Collaborate with school leaders to align literacy instruction with school goals and student needs Regular travel is required to assigned tutoring sites. Qualifications Required: Minimum of 2–3 years of successful classroom teaching experience (elementary education preferred) Demonstrated success coaching, mentoring, or training educators in literacy instruction. Experience in a reading instruction role, such as classroom teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, Experience with structured literacy and completion of formal training such as Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, AIM Pathways, or LETRS Personal effectiveness and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse educational settings and communities Experience leading or managing diverse groups of people Flexibility and adaptability AmeriCorps experience a plus
