Overview:

Project Coordinator - HGA Community+Live, Workplace & Government Architecture Team!

Location: Washington, DC

 

HGA is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our Community + Live, Workplace & Government Architecture team in Washington, DC. This role plays a key part in driving project success across all phases—from early design through documentation and construction.

 

The Project Coordinator independently manages tasks of moderate size and complexity while supporting project teams with strong communication, technical capability, and organizational skill. Working under general supervision, this role contributes to design development, coordinates with consultants, engages directly with clients, and assists in preparing critical project deliverables. The position also begins to take on mentorship responsibilities, helping guide junior staff and modeling sound judgment in both design and technical decision-making.

 

In this role you will:

 

Design & Documentation

 

  • Independently develop architectural drawings, details, and design layouts.
  • Conduct design analyses and planning studies to inform project direction.
  • Prepare construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD with minimal oversight.
  • Compile and analyze data to support design decisions and project goals.
  • Assist in writing specifications and coordinating building systems.

 

Project Coordination

 

  • Manage assigned portions of project scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with consultants and internal teams to ensure design alignment.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and drawings for compliance and clarity.
  • Support construction administration through site visits and field reports.
  • Maintain organized documentation and contribute to project records.

 

Communication & Collaboration

 

  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Principals, and consultants.
  • Participate in design meetings and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
  • Present ideas clearly and document decisions for team reference.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of learning and accountability.

 

Professional Growth

 

  • Continue developing expertise in codes, specifications, and construction processes.
  • Seek opportunities to lead design tasks and contribute to project strategy.
  • Expand proficiency in BIM workflows and project management tools.
  • Demonstrate initiative, technical rigor, and a commitment to design excellence.

 

What you will need to have:

 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 5–7 years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and project management tools (e.g., VantagePoint).

 

Salary Information:

 

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $80,100 - $92,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
