Overview
The Sr. Aerospace Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The individual will participate in engineering activities including the development of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) modeling and simulation tools, developing GNC algorithms and architectures to support simulations, and providing oversight of engineering analysis. The individual will provide imaginative technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems and report to a Team Lead in our Air-Force Programs business unit.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop simulation models and software for aerospace or weapon system applications.
- Develop GNC concepts, provide robustness and stability analysis, establish performance limitations.
- Perform analysis of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) concepts for aerospace or weapon system applications.
- Software implementation of complex guidance, navigation, and controls algorithms.
- Work with a small team of scientists and engineers to model, simulate and study the performance of potential Air Force guided weapon systems, concepts and advanced weapon subsystem technologies.
- Develop advanced technology concepts for missile and aerospace system applications.
- Document and present results to technical leads, management and/or customers.
- Support the development and on-time delivery of technical products to our customers.
- Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in the performance of duties.
- Support other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
- BS degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field is required, MS degree or PhD is desired.
- 8-10 years of engineering experience in guidance, navigation, and controls algorithm development and analyses; experience on DoD programs desired.
- Experience with the theory and design of feedback control systems.
- Experience with 6-DOF simulations of atmospheric flight vehicles (flight mechanics or flight dynamics).
- Experience developing Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms.
- Experience using Matlab, C++, or Python is desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Works under only general direction and independently develops solutions that are reviewed upon completion.
