Job Summary:  
The Senior Systems Architecture Engineer – SharePoint Architect is responsible for designing and implementing enterprise system architectures that integrate software, hardware, and communication components to meet organizational and project-specific requirements. This role focuses on developing scalable, secure, and compliant SharePoint architectures while ensuring interoperability and alignment with open systems standards and frameworks. The engineer provides strategic technical guidance, evaluates system performance, and ensures solutions are designed for future growth and cross-functional compatibility. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Design and implement SharePoint architectures to meet business, functional, and technical requirements across enterprise environments. 
  • Develop and maintain high-level system design diagrams, architectural documentation, and technical roadmaps. 
  • Identify, assess, and recommend hardware and software upgrades or enhancements to optimize performance and scalability. 
  • Ensure all systems and architectures comply with Open Systems Architecture, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI), and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models. 
  • Align SharePoint solutions with IEEE Open Systems Environment (OSE) standards and other applicable federal or enterprise IT standards. 
  • Design and enforce compliance with a Common Operating Environment (COE) for system interoperability and standardization. 
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot complex system architecture and workflow challenges; propose corrective actions and process improvements. 
  • Integrate SharePoint environments with APIs, application platforms, and external software applications to support information management (IM) solutions. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including system engineers, developers, and security professionals, to ensure system designs meet performance, security, and scalability goals. 
  • Lead architecture reviews and provide technical mentorship to development and operations teams. 

Required Skills: 
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems architecture, engineering, or enterprise IT design. 
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft SharePoint (on-premises and/or SharePoint Online) architecture, implementation, and migration. 
  • Strong knowledge of systems integration, network architecture, and cloud infrastructure (Microsoft 365, Azure preferred). 
  • In-depth understanding of open systems standards, OSI and ISO reference models, and API integrations. 
  • Experience developing architectural artifacts, including design documents, diagrams, and compliance documentation. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex workflows and propose technical solutions. 

Desired Skills: 
  • Master’s degree in information technology, Systems Engineering, or related field. 
  • Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Administrator / Solutions Architect / 365 Expert. 
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD IT environments. 
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, Zero Trust Architecture, and Cloud Security Frameworks. 
  • Knowledge of ITIL or other enterprise IT service management methodologies.
