Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Systems Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of the enterprise infrastructure supporting the hybrid VPC and global IT infrastructure for the customer. In this role, you will provide engineering and implementation services used across the customer enterprise.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing upgrades, enhancements, and modernization for the enterprise IT environment.
  • This includes the requirement to design and implement server and storage filer infrastructure to support distributed, high-volume data storage and networked file sharing, leveraging modern technologies to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • You will also manage customer AD domain to provide authentication and authorization services for organizational units in the NCR and domestic facilities, ensuring integration with modern security protocols and standards.
  • You will provide backup services for customer servers, systems, and data centers, including redundant backup storage, integrity checks, and audit processes.
  • Backup and restoration infrastructure shall utilize modern platforms (e.g., Dell EMC Data Domain, Oracle ZDLRA) and comply with industry best practices for data protection.
  • You will operate and maintain MS Exchange clusters in data center facilities and Exchange servers at domestic facilities, ensuring alignment with modern email and collaboration technologies.
  • You will be required to coordinate and collaborate with customer organizations to ensure all DNS implementations conform to and integrate with DoS requirements and infrastructure.
  • You will be expected to help manage DHCP scopes and leases to support dynamic and scalable network configurations.
  • The Systems Engineer will be expected to manage, update, and maintain the Customer Hardware Request website in support of deployment services.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The following are the education and experience required for this position:

  • 6+ years
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • Secret Security Clearance 

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • COMP TIA Sec +; ITIL4 Foundation Certification(s)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:   

  • Sitting for long periods
  • Standing for long periods
  • Ambulate throughout an office
  • Ambulate between several buildings
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
  • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds
  • Travel by land or air transportation 25 % .
