Welder

VMG is seeking an experienced Welder to support large-scale commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects. This role is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication work in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials used in HVAC and plumbing systems

• Fabricate, assemble, and install piping components per project drawings and specifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and isometric drawings

• Ensure welds meet quality standards and pass inspections

• Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and jobsite requirements

• Inspect welds and make necessary repairs or adjustments

• Collaborate with foremen, superintendents, and field crews to meet project schedules

Job Requirements

• 2+ years of welding experience in commercial construction (HVAC or plumbing preferred)

• Proficiency in welding processes such as Stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), and/or TIG (GTAW)

• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and welding symbols

• Knowledge of welding safety practices and procedures

• Experience working with piping systems is strongly preferred

• Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights

• Ability to lift:

  • Up to 10 lbs regularly

  • Up to 50 lbs frequently

  • Over 75 lbs occasionally with assistance

• Willingness to travel to job sites throughout the DMV area

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding certifications (AWS, ASME, or equivalent)

• Experience with commercial HVAC piping or plumbing systems

• Familiarity with local building and safety codes
