Allstate’s summerĀ law clerkĀ program is a paid,Ā ten-weekĀ hybridĀ experience.Ā This position is based inĀ Allstate’sĀ Washington, D.C. Federal Affairs Office, whereĀ law clerksĀ will work onsite 2–3 days per week.Ā Travel to Allstate’sĀ Chicago officesĀ will beĀ required.Ā The clerkshipĀ offers summerĀ law clerksĀ the opportunity to work with multiple divisions within the department, including Global Litigation, Employment Law, Business Law,Ā Compliance, Corporate Law, and Government and Industry Relations.Ā Allstate’s Law & RegulationĀ DepartmentĀ operatesĀ under a clear structure, givingĀ law clerksĀ visibility into how legal work directly supports business growth and risk mitigation.Ā 

A summerĀ law clerk’s responsibilities include legal research, preparation of legal memoranda, and oral presentations under the supervision of a licensed Allstate attorney.Ā Law ClerksĀ will be paired with a dedicated attorney-mentor and willĀ participateĀ in structured programming that highlights how the department executes its legal and strategic goals. They may alsoĀ observeĀ internal strategy sessions, and business-unit briefings.Ā Law ClerksĀ in the D.C. office will also have opportunities to engage directly with federal and state lawmakers,Ā observeĀ policy development, and support federal affairs initiatives.Ā 

The salary is competitive, and the position begins in early JuneĀ 2026. Ideal candidates should have outstanding research and writing skills, along with effective oral communication skills. Allstate is looking forĀ students toĀ join us after successfully completing theirĀ first year of law school (Rising 2Ls)Ā whoĀ demonstrateĀ change agilityĀ andĀ embraceĀ cross-functional collaboration, andĀ innovation.Ā Law clerksĀ will gain exposure to initiatives aligned with Law & Regulation’s enterprise-wide goals, including innovation in legal operations, AI and data analytics integration, legal system abuse mitigation efforts, climate-related strategies, and cross-functional business partnerships. Students interested inĀ government affairs,Ā corporate practice, complex litigation, regulatory policy,Ā andĀ legal innovation are strongly encouraged to apply.Ā This role is particularly well suited for students with an interest in government affairs, public policy, or the intersection of law and legislative advocacy.Ā Law school transcripts areĀ required. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is expected, along withĀ demonstratedĀ excellence in research, writing, and analytical skills.Ā
