Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter’s 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan – a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.

Position Overview

The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager plays a key role in the execution of a high-volume, all-day food & beverage program. This position is responsible for leading front-of-house operations, driving guest satisfaction and revenue, supporting team development, and ensuring seamless collaboration across culinary, beverage, and events teams. The Assistant F&B Manager serves as the primary on-floor decision maker during peak service periods and is instrumental in maintaining service excellence, operational efficiency, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

Front-of-House Operations & Guest Experience

• Lead day-to-day front-of-house operations across the all-day F&B program,

ensuring consistent service standards and a polished guest experience.

• Act as the primary on-floor decision maker during peak service, resolving guest concerns, staffing challenges, and operational issues in real time.

• Drive guest satisfaction through proactive table touches, service recovery, and

strong team leadership.

Revenue & Cross-Department Collaboration

• Partner closely with beverage, culinary, and events teams to drive revenue, optimize service flow, and ensure cohesive execution of offerings.

• Support the rollout of new menus, promotions, and activations, aligning operational execution with brand and financial goals.

Events & BEO Execution

• Execute and lead BEO-driven events ranging from intimate gatherings (12 guests) to large-scale functions (up to 300 guests).

• Oversee receptions, plated meals, buyouts, and special activations, ensuring

accuracy, timing, and elevated service standards.

• Serve as the on-site operational lead for events, coordinating staff, setup, service flow, and breakdown.

Labor Management & Team Leadership

• Own scheduling, supervision, and day-to-day leadership of support staff,

consistently achieving labor targets under 14%.

• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of team members to build a strong, service-driven culture.

• Coach and train new and existing staff on service standards, menu knowledge, and hotel operations.

Operational & Financial Support

• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and cost controls in collaboration with F&B leadership.

• Support cost analysis and operational planning for new offerings, menus, and

activations.

• Ensure compliance with hotel SOPs, health and safety standards, and brand

expectations.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of progressive leadership experience in food & beverage operations,

preferably within a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant environment.

• Strong understanding of front-of-house operations, labor management, and service standards.

• Experience executing BEO-driven events and managing high-volume service

periods.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.

• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Salary Pay Range: $58-62K
