Responsibilities
- Provide medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation) and document in the electronic medical record Â
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, including diet modifications, supplements, nutrition support, and patient education Â
- Monitor patient progress using clinical indicators (labs, weight, outcomes) and adjust care plans accordingly Â
- Deliver nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and community using tailored materials and approaches Â
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in rounds/meetings, and communicate with providers to optimize care Â
- Support training of staff, students, and new hires; contribute to policy updates and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Education:Â Â
- After January 1, 2024 - Master’s degree in dietetics or degree that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.Â
- Individuals credentialed as Registered Dietitians prior to January 1, 2024, are eligible with a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or degree that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.Â
- Successful completion of an internship coordinated undergraduate program, or post graduate program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.Â
Experience:Â
- Preferred: One year of experience as an acute clinical dietitian for entry level practice or 3+ years’ experience as an acute dietitian for advanced level practice.Â
License(s)/Certification(s):Â
- Lic Dietitian - Must hold a current license or certification specific to the state of employmentÂ
- IADHHS – Iowa Department of Health and Human ServicesÂ
- IDFPR – Illinois Department of Financial & Professional RegulationÂ
- WisconsinÂ
- Reg Dietitian requiredÂ
- CDR – Commission on Dietetic RegistrationÂ
- Preferred: Cert Diabetic EducatorÂ
- NCBDE – National Certification Board for Diabetes EducatorsÂ
- Preferred: Certified Nutrition Support ClinicianÂ
- NBNSC – National Board of Nutrition Support CertificationÂ
- Preferred: Board Certification Specialty from CDR in:Â
- Oncology NutritionÂ
- Gerontology NutritionÂ
- Renal NutritionÂ
- Pediatrics Critical Care NutritionÂ
- IA/IL Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.Â
- IA/IL Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.Â
