UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital is a 204-bed, community hospital serving the Cedar Valley. Allen Hospital is the busiest hospital in the Cedar Valley. We care for more inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients and cardiac patients than any other hospital in our 10-county service area. United Medical Park and Prairie Parkway offer outpatient care in facilities that are built for your comfort and convenience.

• UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital and our team of cardiologists and Advanced Practice Providers form the only comprehensive heart care center in the Cedar Valley
• Part of a large multi-specialty group, including primary care, providing a built-in referral base
• Excellent specialty support
• 16 bed ICU with intensivist
• 3 Cath labs and 1 EP lab
• Heart floors include 2 heart -15 beds and 3 heart-24 beds
• State of the art dedicated heart and vascular center
• Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination

Responsibilities

• M-F; 8 hour shifts, 1 weekend a month
• Hospital based opportunity to assist our employed Cardiology team
• Provides care in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team in the inpatient clinical setting
• New and follow up inpatient visits collaborating with cardiologist
• Provider will serve as proxy for patient results and messages
• Provider will be highly engaged with inpatient nursing and hospitalist teams
• Consults and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team or appropriate specialist to plan and manage care
• Evaluates patient’s progress during follow ups and implement plan of care
• Provides patient education with emphasis on the promotion of health and wellness 
• Timely consults, admission, history and physicals, and discharges
• Participate in rounding on the inpatient cardiac unit

Qualifications

• Inpatient or cardiology experience preferred
• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Board Certified
• Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
• Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
• Eligible to work in the United States
