The Medical Staff Coordinator supports Medical Staff Services through credentialing, privileging, compliance, and provider performance review activities. This role applies knowledge of medical staff bylaws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements to evaluate provider qualifications, assess risk, and provide recommendations to Medical Staff leadership while promoting patient safety, compliance, and due process.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource and liaison for providers, Medical Staff leadership, CVO, and internal stakeholders regarding credentialing, privileging, compliance requirements, and status updates.
  • Independently review and analyze provider credentialing files, applications, privileges, and verification data to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Evaluate provider qualifications, clinical competence, performance data, and credentialing risk to develop recommendations for Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and Governing Body review.
  • Manage credentialing and reappointment processes, monitor expirable documents, maintain accurate records and databases, and ensure timely completion of required activities.
  • Support privileging, FPPE/OPPE reviews, provider performance monitoring, and quality improvement initiatives through data analysis and professional recommendations.
  • Coordinate Medical Staff committee support, provider onboarding, audits, surveys, reports, and departmental initiatives while maintaining compliance with CMS, accreditation standards, HIPAA, and peer review requirements.
  • Identify and resolve workflow issues, maintain data integrity, support system updates and access requests, and promote efficient, compliant Medical Staff Services operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on credentialing processes, workflows, systems, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associates Degree in Healthcare Management/Administration, Communications, Customer Service

Experience: 

  • At least three years of experience in a hospital setting, customer service, patient relations, credentialing or related field
  • Preferred: CPES-NAMSS, CPCS, CPMSM
