Job Overview

Pascal develops solid refrigerant technologies for cooling a warming world. We have translated our core technology into a commercial-scale refrigerator prototype, and the next phase of development requires the systematic design, fabrication, and validation of core components and integrated systems.

Pascal is seeking talented students with experience in Mechanical Engineering to join our team. You’ll help design and build components for our prototype and pilot systems, test them on subsystem and system-level stands, and feed what you learn back into the next design.

This is a hands-on role for undergraduate and master’s students who want to learn by building and testing real hardware. We recruit interns throughout the year, and responsibilities will be scoped to each intern’s experience and the needs of active projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design and development of components and assemblies for Pascal’s solid refrigerant systems.

  • Translate system and test requirements into mechanical concepts, 3D CAD models, assemblies, and prototype drawings.

  • Fabricate prototype parts and test fixtures using laboratory and machine tools.

  • Assemble and instrument hardware for testing.

  • Support suppliers and fabrication partners by preparing design information, communicating requirements, and incorporating manufacturability feedback.

  • Develop and run mechanical and thermofluidic tests covering component performance, structural integrity, and durability.

  • Collaborate with Pascal’s materials, controls, and thermal engineers on system builds and debugging, contributing to adjacent tasks as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • A strong understanding of engineering principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.

  • Hands on engineering experience via research, student engineering teams, prior work experience, or personal projects.

  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar tools, fabrication methods, and systems.

  • Enthusiasm for climate engineering and Pascal’s mission.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Compensation

This is a paid, hourly internship. The expected pay range is $28–$35 per hour, depending on education and relevant experience.

Start date: As soon as possible; applications reviewed on a rolling basis

Perks

  • Reallllyyyy good coffee. We aren’t saying that we are coffee snobs, but we do joke that our coffee budget is unlimited.

  • Discounted Charlie Cards (~30% off the monthly pass) to subsidize your commute.

  • Weekly free lunch! On Wednesdays our team has lunch together. The restaurant rotates, but our current favorites include Pepper Sky’s, Five Spices House, and Clover Food Lab.

  • Mentorship from an interdisciplinary team. Our team has a diverse array of backgrounds and skillsets (from fuel cells to rockets to impact investing), and we are excited to support your development, no matter the path you choose to follow!

Equal Employment Opportunity

Pascal is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and building a diverse team that reflects the people and communities we hope to serve. Pascal is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
