Pivotal Health Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Watertown, SD.  In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production. This role bridges product design and manufacturing, ensuring products are manufacturable, reliable, and meet quality standards.

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes for new and existing products
  • Conduct DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) analysis to improve product manufacturability
  • Implement process flow, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency, yield, and throughput
  • Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues 
  • Collaborate with quality, production, and maintenance teams to resolve production problems
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence
  • Support New Product Development by providing manufacturability input during design and prototyping
  • Develop process plans, tooling requirements, and production validation for new products
  • Conduct pilot builds and optimize production readiness before full-scale launch
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Maintain metrics for production efficiency, yield, and quality improvements
  • Recommend and implement automation or technology upgrades where appropriate
  • Work closely with design engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product development and production
  • Maintain and update technical documentation including SOPs, BOMs, and work instructions
  • Assist in training production staff on new processes and equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline 
  • 3–5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment 
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment
  • Experience with CAD/CAE software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and process simulation tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying shop conditions (heat, dust, noise)
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA and tolerance analysis
  • Familiarity with prototype development and pilot production
  • Ability to provide design-for-manufacturability feedback to design engineers
  • New Equipment &process research, ROI’s, implementation Procedures
