Job DetailsJob Location: North Facility - Watertown, SD 57201   General Description     The Production Lead provides frontline leadership for an assigned manufacturing area, setting daily priorities, directing workflow, and ensuring the team operates safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role supports employee training, drives accountability and continuous improvement, and partners with the Supervisor to achieve production goals. The Production Lead consistently models and promotes the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values, with UPSCALE as the foundation.   Essential Functions Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. Lead daily production activities to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery requirements. Enforce safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices. Communicate daily priorities, assign work, and monitor production progress. Train support employees in safety, quality, 5S, standard work, and job expectations. Monitor product quality, perform spot inspections, and support problem resolution. Ensure production follows drawings, specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements. Identify and escalate production, quality, tooling, equipment, or staffing concerns as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction. Ensure required production records and documentation are completed accurately and on time. Verify equipment, tooling, and work areas are maintained, cleaned, calibrated, and production-ready. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation. Provide the Supervisor with feedback on employee performance, training needs, and departmental concerns. Qualifications   education & TRAINING requirements   High school diploma or GED required. Technical, vocational, or advanced education preferred. Relevant manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership or lead responsibilities preferred. Training or experience in safety, quality, Lean manufacturing, and 5S practices is a plus.   work experience requirements     2+ years of manufacturing experience; prior lead or team leadership experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and shop documentation. Working knowledge of metal fabrication/forming processes, equipment, and production practices. Ability to safely operate required material-handling equipment, including forklifts, as applicable. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead by example, support teamwork, and respond effectively to changing priorities. Ability to perform in a fast-paced production environment while meeting safety, quality, and delivery expectations. Ability to understand and follow instructions, prioritize multiple tasks, solve routine problems, and maintain attention to safety, quality, and production requirements. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and make timely, sound decisions within the scope of the role.
