Position Summary:


The Counter Sales Representative serves as a critical member of the store operations team, responsible for accurately mixing automotive and industrial coatings, assisting customers at the sales counter, supporting warehouse operations, and providing delivery support when needed. This position requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service to ensure customers receive accurate color matches, quality products, and timely service.


As one of the primary paint mixing resources within the store, this role plays a direct impact on customer satisfaction, product quality, and operational efficiency. The position also provides cross-functional support across sales, inventory management, warehouse operations, and delivery functions to ensure seamless store performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  •  Prepare, mix, tint, and color match automotive and industrial coatings according to customer specifications and manufacturer formulas, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality standards are met. 
  • Operate paint mixing equipment, computerized color matching systems, scales, and related tools while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  •  Assist customers at the sales counter by providing exceptional customer service, product recommendations, technical guidance, and application support for automotive and industrial coating products.
  • Process customer transactions accurately, including order entry, invoicing, payments, returns, and order fulfillment.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication, product knowledge, and responsive service.
  • Receive, inspect, stock, organize, and replenish inventory to ensure product availability and inventory accuracy.
  • Pick, pack, stage, and prepare customer orders for pickup or delivery while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory management activities, and warehouse organization to support operational efficiency.
  • Provide back-up delivery support as needed, including loading, transporting, and unloading products while operating company vehicles in a safe and professional manner
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintain required delivery documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Support daily store operations by answering phones, assisting with administrative tasks, maintaining store appearance, and contributing to a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, facility security, and general operational responsibilities as assigned.
  • Monitor inventory levels for paint and related products and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to all company policies, operational procedures, environmental regulations, and safety standards, including proper handling and storage of coatings, solvents, and related materials.
  • Collaborate with store, warehouse, and delivery team members to ensure efficient operations, customer satisfaction, and achievement of business objectives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall success of store operations.

Requirements

Qualifications:


  •  High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in paint mixing, automotive refinishing, industrial coatings, counter sales, warehouse operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with paint mixing systems, color matching technology, tinting equipment, or automotive paint products strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn technical coating products, applications, and mixing procedures.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to accurately measure, mix, tint, and process transactions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move products weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, point-of-sale software, inventory systems, and color matching technology preferred.
  • Ability to operate or become certified on warehouse equipment, including forklifts and material handling equipment, as required.
