About the Role
At PSS Cross Country Infrastructure Solutions, every team member plays a critical role in delivering the products, equipment, and expertise that keep America’s infrastructure projects moving forward.

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, packaging, shipping, and distributing materials within the warehouse environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring timely order fulfillment, and supporting safe and efficient warehouse operations in a fast-paced distribution environment.

This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor or Branch Manager and collaborates closely with warehouse staff, drivers, and operations personnel.

What You’ll Do

Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management

  • Pull the correct quantity and product from designated inventory locations based on picking or transfer tickets

  • Receive, store, organize, and distribute materials within the warehouse

  • Stock and store products in designated inventory locations following established procedures

  • Record and maintain accurate inventory location information and product quantities

  • Perform inventory control audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy

  • Assist with internal transfers and movement of materials between locations

Shipping & Receiving

  • Build cartons and package products securely for outbound shipments and deliveries

  • Load and unload materials from trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment

  • Verify receipt of incoming materials against packing slips and delivery tickets

  • Confirm products received match vendor packing lists and purchase order documentation

  • Support shipping and receiving documentation and recordkeeping processes

Equipment & Safety

  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and ladders

  • Complete daily forklift inspections and report equipment issues or defects to management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment

  • Follow all company safety procedures and warehouse protocols at all times

  • Ensure shelves, pallets, and workstations remain tidy and free from hazards

What You Bring

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (e.g., Social Security card, passport, or other acceptable I‐9 documents)

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and good warehousing practices

  • Ability to read and perform basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds

  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain forklift certification successfully

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • Basic computer skills preferred, particularly for shipping and receiving responsibilities

Working Conditions

  • Primarily warehouse-based role involving physical labor and operation of warehouse equipment

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and material handling throughout the workday

  • Exposure to varying warehouse temperatures and conditions

  • Standard workweek applies, though overtime may be required during peak operational periods

  • Use of PPE is required where appropriate

  • Operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment required
