Summary/Objective
Utilizes the nursing process to provide care to patients of all age groups (infancy through geriatrics), and with all types & degrees of severity of illness or injury. Â Practices in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, and hospital & department policies, procedures & standards. Â Participates in performance improvement efforts. Â Maintains a clean, well organized department in a constant state of readiness with adequate supplies, equipment checks & housekeeping tasks. Â Maintains competence through required in-services & other continuing education. Â Requires on call, weekend & holiday rotation and the flexibility to work all shifts when needed.
Essential Functions

Collects forensic specimens.
Filing mandated reports.
Knowledge of laws/regulations as they pertain to emergency nursing.
Resolves problems and supports the unit team.

Awareness of proper infection control.
Teaches patients and/or significant others & shares knowledge with EMT’s or students.
Interprets data & identifies patient requirements relative to age specific needs.

Required Education and Experience
Must have current hospital experience (within 5 years), or be a new nursing graduate (within 2 years).
Must be able to think clearly during emergencies & be able to function well in extremely stressful situations. Â
Prefer at least 1 year of experience in hospital clinical nursing.
Licenses/Certifications
State of Illinois RN license.
CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
ACLS certification within 1 year of hire.
PALS certification within 1 year of hire.
ECRN certification within 2 years of hire preferred.
Recommended TNS & CEN certifications after 3 years preferred.
