Essential Functions

- Evaluates patient's speech/language/swallow/cognitive skills as related to his/her functional status, using standardized tests and measures. Â Incorporates pertinent medical information into the evaluation. Â Incorporates age-specific, language, and cultural needs into the individualized treatment plan.
- Formulates individualized treatment plans consistent with objective findings. Â Establishes time based objective, and functional short and long-term goals.
- Administers treatments and monitors each patient's responses to the treatments. Â Adjusts the treatment plan according to patient responses.
- Communicates effectively with patient, caregivers, physicians, members of the healthcare team, and therapy peers and director.
- Discusses clinical findings, goals, and treatments with patients and when appropriate with families/caregivers. Â Involves patients' families in the evaluation and treatment process especially when working with pediatric patients. Â Ensures that instructions and conversations with the above individuals are understood by the involved parties.
- Participates in discharge planning with patients/caregivers, physicians, nurses and social services personnel to promote timely and safe discharge arrangements.
Experience/Education Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current Illinois Speech Language Pathologist license or eligibility for licensure
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Current BLS certification preferred
- Experience treating pediatric and adult populations preferred
- Video swallow study certification and experience preferred
- One year clinical experience as a SLP preferred

These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, Saint Anne, IL and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.Â
