Participate in the repair and maintenance of park rides and facilities using standard carpentry and construction methods. Â
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of assigned crew performing rough and finish carpentry work and facility repairsÂ
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly inspections, and routine preventative maintenance as well as annual rehab/ rebuild on wooden roller coasters involving work at extreme heights and angles, and working in a fall protection harnessÂ
- Interpret and follow written work orders and/ or verbal instructions in order to complete assignmentsÂ
- Troubleshoot repairs and construction problems to determine best work methodÂ
- Make a variety of repairs including repairs to buildings, roofs, fences, gates, walls, flooring, doors, stairs, carpet, fixtures, etc.Â
- Fabricate new facilities and items as assigned including shelves, framing, enclosures, fences, ramps, stairs, storage units, cabinets, etc.; make proper measurements and determine materials to be used; fabricate items to work order specificationsÂ
- Install carpet, vinyl and tile flooring materialsÂ
- Dig ditches, rake, remove and install gravel, etc.Â
- Adhere to all departmental and company safety policies; wear appropriate safety equipment as requiredÂ
- Report any work order problems to the SupervisorÂ
- Assist in other Maintenance and Construction trades as neededÂ
- Other duties as requested Â
Qualifications:
- Should possess a thorough operational understanding of carpentry procedures and methods as well as a working knowledge of building codesÂ
- Must possess a working knowledge of the safe use of hand and power tools and large power equipment including table saw, drill press, band saw, etc.Â
- Must possess a valid driver’s license as defined by Six Flags policyÂ
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructionsÂ
- Must be able to read blueprints and interpret rough layouts or sketches, must possess basic math skillsÂ
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, able to work varied schedules to include weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by the operational needs of the ParkÂ
- Must possess the mental and physical capacities necessary to safely perform the job duties; must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, squat, twist, push and pull and lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.; must be able to reach overhead Â
- Must be able to safely perform work functions at heights in excess of 100ftÂ
- Familiarity with CNC router programing and operation a plusÂ
