About the Role:

The SMT Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and monitoring Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to assemble electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). This position ensures that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets quality standards by setting up machines, loading materials, and performing routine inspections. The operator is responsible for identifying and troubleshooting minor equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output. Attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality protocols are essential to prevent defects and ensure product reliability. Ultimately, the SMT Operator 1 contributes to the overall success of the production team by maintaining high standards of workmanship and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate SMT machines according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Load and unload PCBs and components, ensuring proper placement and alignment.
  • Monitor machine performance and quality output, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of SMT equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Inspect assembled boards for defects and report any issues to the quality control team.
  • Document production data and maintain accurate records of machine settings and output.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe working environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience operating SMT equipment or in electronic manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with solder paste application and reflow soldering processes.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for SMT machinery.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and inspection techniques.
  • Certification in electronics assembly or related technical training.
