About the Role

We are seeking a Group Product Manager – Industrial Controls & Transfer Switches to lead strategy, execution, and team development across our Industrial Controls and Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) portfolio. This leader will own the product vision and roadmap for next-generation hardware, firmware, and connected control platforms, ensuring alignment with Generac’s compliance, connectivity, and customer experience goals.

You will guide a team of product managers, drive cross-functional collaboration, and shape multi-year innovation plans that deliver reliable, compliant, and scalable power solutions. This role blends portfolio strategy, technical depth, and people leadership to deliver high-impact products in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the multi-year roadmap for next-generation transfer switches, generator controllers, and related platforms across internal and external development efforts

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of product managers, fostering strong execution, growth, and accountability

  • Drive long-term product planning in partnership with sister companies and external suppliers to ensure resource alignment and shared success

  • Set strategic direction for connected and integrated solutions, including remote monitoring, communication protocols, and multi-ATS system capabilities

  • Embed regulatory and cybersecurity compliance (UL, NFPA, and related standards) into product strategy and delivery plans

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, service, and field teams to ensure firmware readiness, installation efficiency, and lifecycle performance

  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable product requirements and innovation opportunities

  • Represent the portfolio in cross-business initiatives and lead launch, communication, and cost optimization efforts

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Electrical Engineering preferred)

  • 7+ years of product management or technical leadership experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple product lines and leading cross-functional teams

  • Technical expertise in engine and/or generator controls, transfer switches, and firmware platforms.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, complex environments

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management capabilities

  • Experience driving portfolio-level strategy, execution, and team development

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Advanced product management certifications (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM)

  • Experience with power generation systems, architecture and switchgear controls

  • Familiarity with global compliance standards and international product requirements

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
