JOB SUMMARY


Process materials from receipt to dispersal to WIP, including the complete incoming QA inspection, proper storage techniques, control and the delivery to applicable workstations as required.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Works with outside drivers to verify incoming materials for quantities, and inspects for conditions prior to signing bills of lading.
  • Load and unload critical materials from trucks using hand trucks, lift trucks, and overhead cranes in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Unloads oil from tank trucks and railroad cars using the appropriate safety techniques, inspection procedures and paperwork. 
  • Maintains the dock, warehouse, paint room and outside yard in a structured/controlled manner, insuring efficient utilization of space. 
  • Open and verify product for identity, condition, and count. Making the appropriate computer entries to receive the product and properly identifying the parts with computer generated cards and/or part numbers. 
  • Resolve problems with Receiving Dept. working closely with the Purchasing Dept., Material Control Dept. and to a lesser degree all areas of the plant. 
  • Perform inspection of all parts received as per QA Receiving Inspection Procedures. 
  • Put away materials and parts verifying they are properly identified and inspected. Make the appropriate computer entries for the move. 
  • Initiate the computer to run daily pick-lists, then separate and arrange the pick-lists and identification cards for ease of picking.
  • Pick and deliver required parts in a specific manner, to a specific location for each department, on a timely basis.
  • Resolve problems with materials (counts, location, quality, etc.) working with Purchasing Dept., Material Control, Manufacturing, Inspection, etc.
  • Operate company trucks to perform interplant movement of materials and mail.
  • Locate and prepare materials for shipment including properly packaging, correctly documenting, and the selection and contact of carriers, (parts, literature, etc.).
  • Perform cycle inventories and locations checks as required.
  • Collect scrap materials (hoppers, crates, barrels, etc.) from throughout the plant and deposit in the appropriate outside scrap box. Contact outside salvage suppliers to set up removal.
  • Maintain salvage operations in a safe and efficient manner including scheduling of disposal trucks (includes copper, reels, green board, barrels pallets, hazardous waste, etc.).
  • Analyze the need and refill plant floor stock bins in a manner that assures availability, yet keeps inventories on the floor at a minimum.
  • Process material requisitions in a timely manner (including internal plant moves).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


  • Forklift and hand truck, cranes.
  • General tool skills
  • Must maintain a cooperative attitude; involvement is with all areas of the facility on a "just in time" basis. 
  • Operation of lift trucks, overhead cranes, and side-loading Drexelmatic requires good concentration and manual dexterity. 
  • Must have a good understanding of basic receiving and warehousing procedures and no fear of a computerized environment, or working at heights in excess of ten feet.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to occasionally sit, walk. Climb, balance, push, pull, carry, work below waist level and foot use.


Working Conditions

Shop-floor located on large manufacturing plant.
