THE ROLE:              Quality Technician

 

LOCATION:              Waukesha, WI

REPORTS TO:        Manager, Quality, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement

POSITION TYPE:    Full-time, non-exempt

HOURS:                   2nd Shift, 3pm - 1am, Monday - Thursday

 

OUR OPPORTUNITY:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Quality, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement, QA Technician checks and inspects in-coming materials, in-process and finished products, ensuring conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform inspection on raw materials, outsourced parts, in-process materials, fabricated parts and finished goods, making sure of conformance to specifications.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
  • Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
  • Conduct and document individual tool calibration and verification per company standards.
  • Compile, interpret, and document statistical data from testing processes to either confirm compliance with established quality standards or identify deviations.
  • Process non-conformance reports when incorrect material is received.
  • Ensure finished product is packaged, marked, tagged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation.
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.

 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical diploma or Associate degree in quality engineering, quality assurance, quality control or equivalent experience and education.
  • Three to five years related experience in manufacturing which includes working in quality and/or responsibility for inspection of raw materials, parts, in-process materials and finished goods.
  • Knowledge of welding and/or powder coat processes strongly preferred.
  • Requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment to include micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, paint film gauge, squares, measuring tape, profile gauge, and various other precision measuring devices.
  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., Epicor).
  • Must possess strong attention to detail.
  • Solid interpersonal relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical requirements include Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds when turning parts over. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, pulling, and extended periods of standing.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical diploma or Associate degree in related technical discipline preferred.
  • Three to five years related experience in manufacturing experience which includes working in a quality and/or responsibility for inspection of raw materials, parts, in-process materials and finished goods.
  • Knowledge of welding, painting, and fit-up preferred.
  • Requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment to include micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, paint film gauge, squares, measuring tape, profile gauge, and various other precision measuring devices.
  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must possess strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor
  • Solid interpersonal relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Use hands to type and write; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and is frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Talk and hear well enough to effectively communicate with others
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
