REPORTS TO: Vice President, Preconstruction 

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None 

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 20-30%

WORK SCHEDULE: Day Shift

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The customer executive is responsible for working closely with clients and project teams to lead projects through the preconstruction phase and set them up for success. This includes understanding the client's needs and voicing them to the project team and external stakeholders. This role will follow the project through to completion to ensure a seamless project delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops internal and external strategy plans for project success and client satisfaction. 
  • Participates in all client and architect/engineering meetings and ensures any project changes support the client's overall goals.
  • Collaborates with conceptual estimators throughout the budgeting process and maintains client budgets during all phases. Articulates complex budgets to clients.
  • Creates milestone design and Level 1 construction schedules for each phase of assigned projects.
  • Organizes and facilitates benchmark reviews and leads conversations on the budget, schedule, constructability, and scope of the established project benchmarks.
  • Analyzes drawing and specifications at various checkpoints for constructability and coordination purposes.
  • Effectively communicates project information with the project management team and department leaders as projects change phases.
  • Assists the project team for the development of scope of work documents for the bidding activities.
  • Participates in project bid days, ensuring a successful outcome for the company and client. 
  • Leads efforts for local permitting requirements and early site coordination activities.
  • Cultivates and nurtures client relationships before, during, and after preconstruction services and throughout construction.
  • Continuously seeks improvements on project processes and tools to deliver a successful project and satisfy the customer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or any combination of education and professional experience that would meet the responsibilities listed above.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management or architecture for commercial buildings. Able to demonstrate progressive responsibility and growth within the construction and architecture industries.
  • Minimum of five years of experience leading teams. Able to multitask and work effectively both independently and collaboratively with internal and external team members while maintaining strong attention to detail and customer service.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with various project delivery methods and developing and managing budgets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to easily interact with company team members, client organizations, architects, and engineers.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primarily an office environment with regular visits to project sites and architect and client offices.

Under 1/3 of your time will be spent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, tasting or smelling, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Up to 2/3 of your time will be spent sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talking or hearing. Our office environment requires extensive computer work and the use of the phone as well as reading construction documents, sequence and duration plans, and various spreadsheets.
