This role is critical in transforming sales specifications into production-ready designs that meet rigorous safety and performance standards. You will be a key link between engineering and the factory floor, ensuring every custom build is optimized for Lean Manufacturing and structural integrity.

  • Develop complex sheet metal designs, weldments, and assembly drawings for custom vehicle bodies.

  • Create comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation to support high-volume product orders.

  • Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD to generate precise 3D models and 2D production layouts.

  • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) guidelines and industry safety standards.

  • Collaborate with sales teams and customers during pre-construction meetings to interpret technical requirements.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and fabrication issues on the shop floor to maintain production schedules.

  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and materials into next-generation vehicle architectures.



Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

  • 3+ years of experience in sheet metal design, fabrication, or heavy equipment manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is required.

  • Experience with SolidWorks Enterprise PDM for version control and data management.

  • Familiarity with NFPA standards and specialized vehicle safety regulations.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret 2D sales drawings and product configurators.
