Materials Manager is responsible for all supply chain activities including master scheduling, planning, warehousing, subcontracting and material flow. This key function will work with the plant manager and senior leadership team in the development of strategic plans and objectives, while proactively managing areas of control to assure attainment of agreed upon goals. This function participates in the establishment and deployment of standard processes, policies & procedures, taking the necessary steps to ensure compliance. This position leads the effort to achieve and maintain alignment in the value chain between the suppliers, and the end customer in all form, fit, function, price and delivery requirements.
Establishes strategies for Scheduling, Procurement, Warehousing & Material Flow. Acts as process owner for all supply chain related activities. Supports relevant and or assigned strategic sourcing initiatives under agreed-upon time frames. Strategically represents assigned Operations facilities within the larger function of Global Supply Chain. Supports Industrial Operations and Finance to establish monthly revenue and orders forecast. Establishes and monitors adherence to agreed-upon policies and procedures. Establishes annual goals and objectives, (including stretch targets) in coordination and manages performance to ensure attainment. Develops, implements, and adheres to required reporting methods and applies statistical tools to evaluate and control attainment of department's objectives. Establishes and implements countermeasures to compensate for negative performance and market trends. Manages Kanban program with external and internal supply base including setting proper levels, PO management and overall functionality. Champions the materials management processes; ensures consistent application of processes; drives strategic thinking within the supply chain organization. Builds and maintains solid relationships with strategic supply chain partners. Coordinates with SCM team, Quality and Engineering teams to ensure that quality and delivery are owned by the supply base and works toward zero defects. Leads the SCM team to ensure period-over-period process improvements. Establishes metrics based on Total Value versus Total Cost analysis. Supports the development and implementation of enabling technologies. Drives innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization. Responsible for timely reporting to agreed-upon KPIs and presents plans, activities, and successes to the senior leadership.
BA or BS degree in a technical competency, min. in a business/industrial related field. Direct materials mgt experience in a manufacturing environment. Financially literate, especially in P&L and cash-flow modeling, scenario building, and comparative analysis. Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to use a structured approach to understand, analyze, and solve complex problems / issues. Ability to develop working partnerships with senior executives across the business and to challenge and influence them to create change. Cross-functional / cross-departmental outlook\Strong written communication and excellent oral presentation skills, and the ability to present convincingly at senior levels.
Preferred Skills:BA/BS in Supply Chain Management. Oracle MRP, Six Sigma or LEAN certification, Certification APICS, CPIM, CPM, ISM or ASQ Supply Chain Certification, process knowledge and implementation, 5S activities and value mapping. Strong Lean Manufacturing Knowledge
