Role SummaryÂ
The Development Engineer II (Application, Database, and IT Collaboration) designs, builds, supports, and troubleshoots applications that integrate with industrial platforms, operational data sources, relational databases, and supporting hardware. The role balances medium-to-high complexity software development with hands-on problem solving across applications, databases, plant-floor interfaces, and endpoint or infrastructure-related issues, working closely with IT teams to resolve incidents and improve system reliability.Â
Core Development ResponsibilitiesÂ
Design, code, debug, and maintain applications using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and toolsÂ
Deliver medium to high-complexity development or automation tasks as part of a collaborative teamÂ
Develop and maintain SQL Server and MySQL-backed application features, including tables, views, procedures, and functionsÂ
Design data models that support real-time operational needs as well as reporting and analyticsÂ
Perform unit and integration testing and participate in peer code reviewsÂ
Maintain and enhance existing codebases with attention to reliability, performance, and maintainabilityÂ
Document program logic, development changes, testing, and corrections using established engineering practicesÂ
Database & Industrial Data Responsibilities (Embedded)Â
Monitor and tune SQL Server and MySQL systems supporting industrial and enterprise workloadsÂ
Analyze execution plans, query statistics, and data access patterns to diagnose and resolve performance issuesÂ
Design indexing and schema strategies appropriate for high-volume, append-heavy, and time-series industrial dataÂ
Support ingestion and querying of data from Ignition gateways, tags, historians, and event-driven datasetsÂ
Protect production systems by preventing reporting or investigative queries from degrading operational performanceÂ
Participate in incident response related to database latency, availability, or data integrityÂ
Hardware Troubleshooting & IT CollaborationÂ
Troubleshoot application issues that intersect with hardware, endpoints, industrial devices, or on-site infrastructureÂ
Work closely with IT teams on:Â
Root cause analysis involving servers, workstations, industrial PCs, or connected devicesÂ
Deployment, configuration, and support of systems that bridge applications and physical hardwareÂ
Security, access, and compliance requirements for production and enterprise environmentsÂ
Partner with IT during incidents to restore service quickly and implement long-term corrective actionsÂ
Coordinate changes affecting applications, databases, hardware interfaces, or plant-floor systems to minimize operational riskÂ
Collaboration & CommunicationÂ
With Application DevelopersÂ
Share best practices for application, database, and integration designÂ
Mentor less-experienced developers and provide constructive code review feedbackÂ
Raise concerns early when new features may impact performance, scalability, or supportabilityÂ
With Automation, Operations, and IT TeamsÂ
Translate operational and hardware-related needs into reliable software and data solutionsÂ
Respect uptime, stability, safety, and security requirements of industrial systemsÂ
Coordinate deployments and changes across application, database, and infrastructure boundariesÂ
Security, Compliance, and QualityÂ
Ensure software and data access comply with organizational security and compliance standardsÂ
Implement and support data protection, access controls, and secure integration patternsÂ
Follow established software product engineering and DevOps practices, including version control and CI/CDÂ
QualificationsÂ

Understanding of industrial data systems, hardware-integrated applications, or plant-floor technologiesÂ
Technical writing and diagramming skillsÂ
Soft SkillsÂ
Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, IT, and operationsÂ
Problem-solving ability for medium to high-complexity technical issuesÂ
Initiative in proposing solutions and continuous improvementÂ
Ability to manage priorities and deadlines while supporting operational systemsÂ
