Substitute Teacher

General Responsibilities: To work in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, aiding students in their daily tasks, and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being taught.

Duties and Expectations

  •         Report to the school office to pick up required materials and assignment for the day.
  •         Carry out the program of study outlined in the lesson plans.
  •         Ensure adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare and safety of all students.
  •         Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students.
  •         Manage the classroom and communicate to students the standards of conduct expected.
  •         Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses and discipline problems to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.
  •         Take attendance in accordance with the school procedures.
  •         Be positive and respectful in all interactions with students and school personnel.
  •         Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  •         Comply with the rules and expectations of the district and school.
  •         Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning staff, students and/or parents/ guardians.
  •         Perform all other related duties as assigned by the building administrator(s) in accordance with the school and district practices.
