Adjunct Faculty - Department of Teacher Education - Applicant Pool

 

Applications will be held in an applicant pool that will be reviewed when a position opens in a given discipline, to fill that position. Applicants will not be notified of their status. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview after an opening necessitates consulting the pool. Applicants are encouraged to indicate their availability by completing the Adjunct Questionaire.

 

 

The Department of Teacher Education is seeking qualified candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching for ongoing part-time adjunct instructor positions. Teaching assignments will vary based on departmental needs. 

Candidates are expected to perform the following essential duties: 

 

  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline. 
  • Present course material in a clear, organized manner using methodologies appropriate to the discipline-e.g., lecture, demonstration, technology. 
  • Explain course expectations clearly to students. 
  • Adhere to the requirements of the department's curriculum. 
  • Adhere to all university safety policies regarding classroom equipment and materials. 
  • Grade assigned papers, examinations, or projects in a timely manner so that students may benefit from the feedback. 
  • Provide students with individualized help and consultation to meet students’ needs. 
  • Meet administrative requirements and deadlines such as those for submitting course syllabi, conducting student course evaluations, and submitting final grades. 
  • Use technology as established and communicated by the University to carry out the administrative duties associated with teaching. 
Qualifications

General qualifications should be appropriate for the level of class being taught, preferably a master's degree or higher in Education or a related field and/or several years' professional experience in a relevant field. The applicant should have experience and/or training relevant to the content area being taught.  A willingness to work collaboratively with faculty, as well as teach and mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds is essential.
