National Grid is hiring a Engineer (Electrical Asset Management), Electrical Engineering for Northboro, Massachusetts.

Job Purpose

As part of our team, you’ll help manage the electric distribution system, ensuring power is delivered safely and efficiently to over 2 million customers in Massachusetts. Your work will support outage management, grid automation, and integration of new energy technologies like solar and battery storage.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Become a go-to expert in our Distribution SCADA – a key tool for keeping the grid running smoothly.
    • Update the DSCADA database, modify substation and feeder displays, and commission new distribution equipment.
    • Collaborate with GIS team to ensure accurate network model, and collaborate with ADMS advanced apps team to ensure that SCADA points integrate with advanced applications.
  • Lead projects to enhance grid operations, integrating new data sources like smart meters and mobile workforce tools.
  • Work on real-time power system challenges by analyzing how renewable energy, electric vehicles, and storage technologies impact the grid.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and industry leaders to develop innovative solutions that improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends by attending conferences, networking, and bringing fresh ideas to the team.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar field) from an ABET-accredited program
  • At least 5 years of experience in the electric power industry or working with electric operations
  • Familiarity with power systems engineering (substations, distribution planning, load flow analysis)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills—you’ll work with different teams across the company

Nice-to-Haves (but not required!):

  • Experience with ADMS, SCADA, or Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) like solar and batteries. (Hitachi experience is a plus)
  • Passion for clean energy, sustainability, and new technology
  • Agil Project Management familiarity (Jira application)
  • Familiarity with GIS, process updates and records/database maintenance

Salary - $109,000 - $128,000
