OptiCool Technologies | Field-based (U.S.) with domestic/international travel

As we scale deployments and service coverage, this role is the front-line technical expert responsible for safe, professional, highavailability support in mission-critical data centers.

Success looks like

  • Customers experience confident, "white-glove" service: clear communication, clean workmanship, and disciplined safety practices.
  • Commissioning/startups are executed to standard (MOP/SOP), with complete documentation and clean handoff to operations.
  • High first-time-fix rate and fast restoration during break/fix events; accurate root-cause findings drive product and process improvements.
  • Preventive maintenance and inspections reduce repeat failures; service data and logs are used proactively to prevent downtime.
  • Partners/contractors are trained and certified to OptiCool standards when deployed under OptiCool's name.

Key responsibilities

Field service execution (installation, commissioning, break/fix)

  • Perform on-site installation support, start-up/commissioning, verification testing, and turnover for OptiCool systems in Tier 3/4 and other mission-critical environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, controls, and refrigerant-side issues on OptiCool equipment (RPW/RPC pumps, RDHx doors, refrigerant distribution network, and ODX heat rejection where applicable).
  • Execute emergency/break-fix response and restoration activities in accordance with customer site rules, change management, and OptiCool service standards.
  • Perform refrigerant best practices: evacuation, dehydration, pressure/leak testing, charging/recovery, and contamination control; document all work performed and readings captured.

Preventive maintenance, inspections, and reliability improvements

  • Execute formal preventive maintenance visits; perform standardized inspections/audits, record results, and propose corrective actions.
  • Identify pattern failures and recurring issues; provide actionable feedback to

Engineering/Manufacturing for design-for-service and reliability improvements.

  • Support development of PM kits, field-ready spares recommendations, and service bulletins.

Remote support, monitoring, and documentation discipline

  • Provide phone/remote triage and troubleshooting; support 24/7 escalation as part of the on-call rotation.
  • Support BMS/monitoring integration troubleshooting (e.g., Modbus/BACnet/SNMP where applicable) and interpret alarms, logs, and trend data to drive proactive interventions.
  • Complete accurate service documentation: reports, photos, as-found/as-left readings, test records, and closeout notes suitable for customer and internal engineering use.

Customer, contractor, and partner enablement

  • Deliver customer and partner training (in person and remotely); coach site teams on safe operations and basic troubleshooting.
  • Help build and maintain OptiCool's contractor/partner network by reinforcing workmanship and documentation standards and serving as a technical mentor.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct as an OptiCool representative on customer sites.

Cross-functional support (lab/manufacturing interface)

  • Support factory/startup verification to ensure systems ship ready for the field; assist with troubleshooting and validation testing as needed.
  • Assist Engineering with test setups, data collection, and evaluation of new and legacy equipment when required.

Required qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive field service experience in HVAC/R, mission-critical cooling, or closely related equipment service.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal (or ability to obtain within 60 days) and strong refrigerant-side fundamentals (leak testing, evacuation, charging/recovery).
  • Demonstrated experience working in mission-critical environments (data centers, telecom, fabs, labs, hospitals, etc.) with strong safety and change-management discipline.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability (motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, power distribution basics).
  • Ability to read P&IDs/schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings; comfortable capturing and reporting measurements.
  • Comfort with controls/BMS interfaces and basic networking concepts; able to support alarm interpretation and integrations.
  • Excellent customer communication and documentation skills; able to write clear field reports and service summaries.
  • Valid driver's license; passport eligible for international travel.

Preferred / differentiators

  • Experience supporting refrigerant-based precision cooling, pumped refrigerant loops, or two-phase thermal systems.
  • Experience with copper piping practices (including brazing), pressure testing, and cleanliness practices appropriate for refrigerant systems.
  • Familiarity with data center procedures (MOP/SOP/EOP), commissioning, and service SLA execution.
  • Experience delivering technical training to customers/partners and mentoring junior technicians.
  • Experience with FSM/ticketing tools and asset/service record management. ï‚· NFPA 70E / OSHA 10/30 and/or other relevant safety credentials.

Physical requirements & working conditions

  • Frequent travel and work in active data center environments; occasional work in mechanical rooms and on rooftops (ODX locations).
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and tools (team lifts as required); ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to work after-hours/weekends during commissioning windows or emergency response periods.
