About the Role:

The Accountant I - Healthcare plays a critical role in supporting the financial integrity and operational efficiency of healthcare services. This position is responsible for accurately managing financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and accounting standards. The role involves collaborating with various departments to maintain accurate billing, budgeting, and reporting processes that support patient care and organizational goals. The Accountant I will contribute to financial audits and assist in the preparation of financial statements, helping to provide transparency and accountability within the healthcare administration. Ultimately, this position ensures that financial data is reliable and timely, enabling informed decision-making and sustainable financial management within the healthcare environment. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the healthcare industry or familiarity with healthcare financial systems.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing and coding practices.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to healthcare operations.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
  • Support budget preparation and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to verify accuracy of billing and coding for healthcare services.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and support continuous process improvements.
